Who We Are
The Sullivan County Regional Coordination Council is made up of transportation providers, human services organizations, the regional planning commission, municipalities and other stakeholders who have an interest in improving community transportation in the region. The Council meets on a bimonthly basis with meetings at SCS on Main Street in Claremont. Council meetings are open to the public. New members are welcome and encouraged to join.
The role of the Council is:
- To help develop, implement, and provide guidance for the coordination of community transportation services and information within the region so that people can access local and regional transportation services to get to locations within the region and between regions;
- To recommend, guide, and monitor a Regional Mobility Manager, an entity that is responsible for the provision of mobility management services/options and the coordination of community transportation services and information in the region;
- To advise the community, including governmental officials, philanthropic organizations and business and community leaders on the need for funding of mobility management and coordination efforts;
- To seek additional public and private funding sources to support these mobility management and coordination efforts, as well as;
- To advise the State Coordinating Council for Community Transpiration on existing and future policies affecting transportation services.
Our goals for 2024 include:
- Increase ridership on local transit, i.e. potential expanding of the hours for the Lebanon Bus
- More publicity for Volunteer Driver Programs in Sullivan County
- Recruit from other communities not currently members
- Expand engagement with communities that have high transit needs that are not being met currently

Region #4 Lead Agency: Southwestern Community Services
Southwestern Community Services (SCS) has been serving the needs of our citizens since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson waged his “War on Poverty”. Over the years our programs have evolved and expanded to keep pace with the constantly changing needs of our citizens. We strive to stay in touch with the real needs of the people who find or develop programs that will best serve those needs. We have a diverse funding base ranging from federal to state and local governments, as well as private foundations and corporations. SCS is a major provider of social services to the residents of Cheshire and Sullivan counties in New Hampshire. SCS provides assistance through emergency shelter programs, workforce and senior rental housing, education and childcare, nutrition and health, energy conservation, utility programs, day and employment services for developmentally disabled individuals, public transit services, mobility management services, and community food programs.

My goal is to:
• Increase understanding and awareness of community transportation needs.
• Increase awareness of current community transportation options and programs
• Ensure that transportation considerations are included in local and regional planning activities.
• Increase local capacity for transportation services.
• Assist individuals with accessing all community transportation options.
• Work with the Regional Coordinating Council to discover, discuss, and find solutions to our
regional Transportation needs, car, bus, and bike-ped.
My recent achievements with the help of the DHHS/Covid-19 Disparities Grant have helped in the launching of:
• Car Repair Program with J.S Automotive in Claremont, Charlestown, and Newport, this program is done at the time of inspection needs, an application is filled out, the applicant is interviewed, and an assessment is done. Once the assessment is completed, the program will provide up to $1000.00 of work to make the car inspectable and roadworthy.
• Pop up the Bicycle Repair Program with the Rogue Robot 4-H group. They have pop-up tents that they set up out in Claremont and Newport and these young children have learned how to repair bicycles for children and adults in their communities.
