Who We Are

The Alliance for Community Transportation (ACT) is the Regional Coordination Council (RCC) for Southeastern New Hampshire. ACT’s mission is to facilitate the implementation of coordinated community transportation and encourage the development of improved and expanded regional community transportation services. ACT’s service area covers 38 communities, including all of Strafford County, eastern Rockingham County, and Wakefield and Brookfield in Carroll County.

ACT is comprised of transportation providers, human service agencies, health care providers, planning commissions, and individual members. If you are interested in joining ACT or attending a meeting, contact us by calling 603-516-0796 or email Info@CommunityRides.org.

TripLink and the Common Application

TripLink is the ACT region’s transportation call center. TripLink manages ride requests on behalf of Community Rides, COAST, Ready Rides, Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, and Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County. If you use one of those services, call TripLink at 603-834-6010 to request a ride!

If you need help finding transportation, call TripLink and our staff will help you determine the service that’s best for you.

To register for transportation services in the ACT region, use the TripLink Common Application. The Common Application allows to you apply for services from Community Rides, COAST, Ready Rides, CAP of Strafford County, Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County, and TASC Rides.

Based on your town of residence, age, and disability status, the Common Application will walk you through the process of applying for only those services that you are likely to be eligible for. You may complete the Common Application completely online or you can call TripLink and a reservationist will take your application over the phone.

Community Rides

ACT offers curb-to-curb non-emergency medical transportation called Community Rides. Community Rides is open to older adults (60+) or individuals with a qualifying disability who live within ACT’s 38-town service area. Trips are provided only to destinations within the 38-town service area as well. Community Rides is meant to serve as a “provider of last resort” for people who aren’t eligible for other services such as COAST ADA Paratransit, Portsmouth Senior Transportation, or the Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County Senior Shuttle.

Community Rides is performed by a coordinated network of transportation providers. Trips are performed by COAST, Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, and Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County, under contract with ACT. Ride requests are placed with TripLink, and TripLink assigns the trips to whichever provider can best fit those trips in their schedule.

Riders are eligible for up 10 one-way trips each month. However, Community Rides has a very limited budget, and riders may not be able to receive all 10 trips if a lot of other clients have requested rides, too. Rides can be requested no more than two weeks in advance and must be requested by 5 PM the business day before the trip.

We request a $3 per trip suggested donation.

Travel Training

ACT’s Travel Training program seeks to help individuals overcome barriers to transportation in order to promote independent travel and to improve access to health care and basic services. Travel Trainings are usually hosted by senior housing developments or senior centers, but can be held for any group of people that might find it useful.

Travel Training includes in-depth information on using the COAST and Wildcat Transit bus systems, including how to read the schedule, plan your route, and how much it costs. Information is also provided on the senior shuttles and volunteer driver programs in the Seacoast that pick riders up at their homes and bring them to medical appointments, shopping trips, etc.

Trainings can be geared towards potential riders, or for staff members who need to learn how to help their clients use the bus system.

Donate

Support older adults and individuals with disabilities by donating to Community Rides! Our clients depend on Community Rides for access to medical care. Help ACT provide more rides to more people by donating today. Donations are tax deductible.

You can donate online via COAST (ACT’s fiscal agent) or you can donate by check.

Checks should be made out to COAST and include “Community Rides” in the memo line.

Become a Volunteer Driver

Ready Rides and TASC Rides coordinate volunteer drivers to provide rides to the doctor for seniors and individuals with disabilities. All it takes to help others stay healthy is your own car and some free time.
