Accessible Transportation for All

East Coast Greenway

The East Coast Greenway (ECG) is a walking and biking route stretching 3,000 miles from Maine to Florida, connecting our nation’s most populated corridor. The East Coast Greenway is designed to transform the 15 states and 450 communities it connects through active and healthy lifestyles, sustainable transportation, community engagement, climate resilience, tourism, and more. The Greenway offers a safe place for bicyclists, walkers, runners, and more — of all ages and abilities — to commute, exercise, and visit new destinations. [From the ECGA Website]

The East Coast Greenway is a designation given to local trail routes in each state along the east coast.  In New Hampshire, the NH Seacoast Greenway (NHSG) is the official section of the East Coast Greenway.  The NHSG connects to the Border to Boston Trail in Salisbury, MA and the Eastern Trail in Kittery, ME via the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, ME.  Both the northern and southern connections are also ECG designated trails.  The entire ECG route is comprised of a combination of on-road and off-road routes with the ultimate goal of being fully off-road.  The off road section of the  NH Seacoast Greenway is currently under development.

Ready to hit the ECG?  Users can expect to find ECG signage from Maine to Florida, but we recommend you visit The East Coast Greenway Alliance to plan a short ride, a multi-day trip, or a 3,000 mile ride from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida!  They also have a ton of information about the ECG plus ways you can support the ECG…and did I say they have ECG Swag?!
