New Hampshire is home to beautiful greenery and a plethora of biking trails, making it easy to get around the Granite State. In fact, it’s home to many major trail systems called “rail trails.” These trails go throughout the state of New Hampshire, and one even stretches as far down as Florida. Some of these trails are still in progress, while others have been around for a long time. Let’s review a few of the top bike trails in New Hampshire.

Top Bike Trails in New Hampshire

Presidential Range Rail Trail

Located in Coos County, the Presidential Range Rail Trail is 18 miles long and follows picturesque views of Mt. Washington and the Moose River. Bikers can take in the sounds and sights of nature while also getting where they need to be. The trail is mostly made of gravel, making it suitable for bikers and hikers alike.

Derry Rail Trail, Windham Rail Trail, and Salem Bike-Ped Corridor

These three bike trails are all interconnected throughout Rockingham County. This route goes through Derry, Windham, and Salem, allowing bikers access to historical attractions, scenic nature landscapes, and the downtown areas of each city. This 3-part trail is part of the larger Granite State Rail Trail as well.  The Granite State Rail Trail is a large state-wide trail that will span from Lebanon to Salem. The trail is still under construction, but the current longest stretch is 57-continuous miles from Lebanon to Boscawen.

Northern Rail Trail

Spanning across Grafton and Merrimack counties, the Northern Rail Trail is 60 miles long and offers unforgettable views of New Hampshire’s rivers, lakes, and wetlands. This bike trail is part of the Granite State Rail Trail and will eventually be a part of the New England Rail-Trail Network, which snakes throughout six states.

Common Pathway

Located in Hillsborough County, the Common Pathway is a historic trail that goes through Peterborough and allows bikers access to shops and restaurants as well as attractions such as libraries and community hubs. Spanning just 5.5 miles, this trail is ideal for those looking to stay local.

Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail

Starting in Manchester, the Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail is a 28-mile bike trail that takes bikers through the city and forested areas, as well as past Lake Massabesic. This is ideal for bikers looking to go the distance while also taking in the scenic views of New Hampshire.
